In 2010, President Qin He, as one of the 30 historical figures to attend the 100th anniversary of “March 8” International Working Women’s Day, and was graciously received by President Hu Jintao and took a group photo with the party and state leaders. The university won the title of “Advanced Unit in Jilin Province in the Shanghai World Expo”. The Administrative Building and the Global Village were put into use. School of Translation and Interpretation, Portuguese Department and Italian Department and three new majors were established --- translation, economics and accounting. Three provincial excellent classes, including “Fundamental English”, eight provincial excellent courses and a provincial teaching team called “Sports and Health” were elected. President Qin was elected as executive director of the “National Organization for Quality and Assessment of Higher Education”; the university set up the first academic committee and student Congress of Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages. The program named “exploring the mode of running a non-profit private university” became a pilot project of the national education system reform with the approval of the State Council; the “Research and Practice of Private Universities Implementing Moral Education and Improving the Quality of Cultivating Students” led by President Qin He won a second prize of state-level “Outstanding Achievements in Education”. In December, the school successfully passed the qualification Evaluation and Investigation of undergraduate teaching led by the Ministry of Education.
