Development in 2011
 

In March 2011, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the university began to recruit students of Arabic and business English. In June, the school was named “China Outstanding Private Higher Education Institution” by Chinese Association for Non-Government Education, and President Qin He was honored with the title of “Advanced Individual in China Non-Government Higher Education”. A joint conference between Sino-foreign university presidents were held at the “Global Village”. At the unveiling ceremony of the “Global Village were Yang Shaoming, deputy director of Jilin Provincial People’s Congress, Wang Huawen, deputy governor of Jilin Province, Xu Xuehai, vice chairman of Jilin Provincial CPPCC, Huang Ying, deputy secretary of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the Ministry of Education, Lu Lianda, head of provincial Department of Education and Zhang Ping, president of Bank of China Jilin Branch, etc. In July, English language and literature and international trade were approved as the key disciplines with distinct characteristics during the twelfth “Five-Year Plan” of Jilin Province. Eight majors (including Translation) have been approved to be majors with distinct characteristics in the province, three “Provincial Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers (such as International Language and Culture Practice & Teaching Center). The university set up the “President Scholarship” for students who are both morally and academically outstanding or those who have done special contributions to the school. In August, “Foreign Language Application-Oriented Talent Cultivation Research Center” was approved as the key research base of humanities and social sciences of Jilin Province in the Twelfth “Five-Year Plan” and was, for the first time, allowed to enroll Russian students pursuing overseas degrees. In October, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school became one of the pilot institutions who have the right to confer professional master’s degree, and was among the first five private higher education institutions who enjoy the right to enroll postgraduates. In December, the school was allowed to carry out three “Construction Projects of the Key Universities in Jilin Province”, including “Laboratory Construction of Specialty Majors”, “The Construction of International Language and Culture Practice & Teaching Center—Global Village”, and “Digital Network Teaching Platform Construction for Application-Oriented Talent Cultivation Majoring in Foreign Languages” were approved by Jilin Provincial Education Department and Finance Department; President Qin He was given the title of “The Third Batch of Senior Experts of Jilin Province”.
