In 2016, the university was selected into the second batch of National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western & Central China and was approved as the Confucius Institute Scholarship Admission Qualification Institute. Cooperated with 40 units in China and beyond the World Translation Education Alliance as formed and the MTI degree program has increased to in seven languages. The university ranked the top of local private universities in 2016 China's Best Universities for “Quality Student” Ranking. The construction of the International Exchange Center was completed and the new library began construction. The Department of Education was formally established. Zheng Dongping, an adjunct professor from the United States, was hired as the “Changbaishan Scholar Professor” of Jilin Province.
