In 2017, President Qin He was elected member of the 14th session of the China Democratic Promotion Council Committee and member of the Seventh National Appraisal Committee for the establishment of Higher Education Institution and President Qin won the “Outstanding Contribution Award” of Huang Yanpei vocational education in Jilin Province and was selected as the 2016 “Students’ Favorite University President”. The Evaluation of the Undergraduate Teaching by the Ministry of Education has successfully completed, and the expert group, praised JHUFL as a high-level private university with passion, responsibility, contribution, distinction with a promising future. It is undoubtedly the banner of the national private universities.” The university was approved as a master’s degree authorization unit and the newly added five master’s degree authorization programs have been approved, and also Jilin Province approved JHUFL as the doctorate construction unit. Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education, spoke highly of the school and praised “the Global Village” as the “the Best Village in the World” on an inspection tour to the university. The new library, International Exchange Center, and the Professional Experimental Center were put into use. The second batch of National Basic Ability Construction Project of Western & Central China– the New Global Village and Entrepreneurship and Innovation Building are also under construction. The university has been approved to receive international students through Chinese Government Scholarship. So far, JHUFL has obtained the “Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students”, “Jilin Provincial Government Foreign Student Scholarship”, and Confucius Institute Headquarters “Confucius Institute Scholarship”. And it retained NO.1 of 2017 Chinese Private Language University Rankings and was selected as one of the top ten competitive universities in China. Jilin Province Business Foreign Languages Association and Changchun Youth Volunteer College were established in the university and the School of Marxism was established as well. Teachers and students of the university won many awards in the national, provincial and municipal competitions and evaluations. The faculty of School of Education was awarded the title of “Huang Danian Teacher Team” in Jilin Province. Our teachers won the 3rd prize in the China Foreign Language Micro Lesson Contest, and award in the Second selection of college network publicity and ideological education work for university students nationwide. The students delivered excellent performance in the 10th Multilingual National Interpretation Competition, the National Business English Practice Contest, the 7th Cross-Strait Interpretation Competition, National English Writing Contest and the 10th Chinese College Undergraduate and Graduate Students, the Japanese speech debate contest. Our women's volleyball team and women's basketball team won the Jilin Provincial College League Championship and we also got good results in the China International Checkers Open and the Chinese University Student Computer Design Competition. JHUFL, approved by the Ministry of Education, has set up the 2017 Education Aid Project, the National Social Science Fund Project, and the Sino-foreign Duel Degree Program for undergraduates majoring in German, etc.
