The School of Oriental Languages at JISU, founded in 2012, has set language programs in Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Mongolian, Indonesian, Persian. It also offers bilingual majors in English/Japanese and English/Korean for undergraduates and Interpretation/Translation (Japanese, Korean), Interpretation (Japanese-Korean) and Interpreting (Arabic) for graduates. The school has five provincial “Quality Courses,” — intensive reading(Japanese), intensive reading(Korean), Japanese Translation,A Survey of South Korea, and Japanese Interpreting. The Japanese Language major has been rated as one of the first batch of national pilot programs of comprehensive reform, a four-star brand program of Jilin Province, as well as a program of provincial characteristics. The Korean Language major has been listed in the program of provincial characteristics. The Korean major has been set up with independent operation rights in China. The Arabic major is the only one in Jilin Province that has both undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Arabic.
