The school proactively develops a student training mode of “interdisciplinary concentration + foreign language” that facilitates the process of an internationalized schooling. It is committed to general and vocational education of professional services, interdisciplinary qualities and outgoing competences.
I. Undergraduate Education
The 244 graduates have achieved outstanding performances during their time at HQUFL. Five of them won national level prizes in the Preschool Teacher Skills Competitions sponsored by the Contemporary Preschool Education Association. Its graduate employment rate has kept steady at over 95% in three consecutive years with a job suited rate of 93.67%. These graduates are mainly employed by educational institutions, kindergartens, and primary schools located in Jilin Province and the Yangtze River Delta.
1. Preschool Education
It adopts a student training model featured by “Major + Foreign Languages + Practice,” focusing on education in rudimentary knowledge of the discipline and English performance, which in particular gives priorities to essential skills and abilities required for international education. It attaches importance to practical training, professional services and interdisciplinary competences through all-round pragmatic channels; such as instructional internship and apprenticeship, and off-campus surveys and interviews. It centers on instructing internationalized students who meet the requirements of child care for preschool education, educational administration, and teacher education.
2. Education Science
The educational mode of “Major + English” helps students to learn profound knowledge and skills in the discipline, pluralistic quality in education and academic research, and necessary competence required by international education. It also emphasizes the training of interdisciplinary students who, with international vision, can promote international education exchanges and thus bring new energy in education science and administration.
3. Primary Education
These students are equipped with rich knowledge and skills in their discipline, pluralistic quality in education and academic research, and necessary competence required by related international education sectors in the guidelines of “Major + English.” It also focuses on training versatile students who, through their professional competency and outgoing qualities, can undertake teaching or management positions in primary schools.
4. Art Education
The school persists in exercising a training mode with characteristics of “Major + Practice.” It values teaching basic theories of education and simultaneously strengthening students’ cultivation of arts, such as music, painting and dance. Practical training is often put in the first position with an integration of theory and practice. Students are encouraged to put their knowledge into actual situations through such activities as instructional internship and apprenticeship and off-campus art performances. The school aims to equip students with solid theory, well-rounded skills, professional competency and international perspective.
II. Postgraduate Programs
2.1 Master of Education (Full-time Education Management)
This specialty trains highly qualified and talented individuals for teaching and teaching management both in elementary schools and in vocational and technical education institutions. This specialty equips students with practical and professional knowledge in education, law, and policies on non-government funded education. At the same time, students grasp the importance of life-long learning and develop their abilities to detect and effectively solve problems in the education system.
This specialty emphasizes the combination of theory and application by adopting a “double supervisors” system—— an on-campus supervisor and off-campus supervisor jointly guide students' learning activities, with the latter focused on garnering practice and real-world experience. To ensure the learning objectives are met, this specialty combines practice and reflection through doing case studies, simulated teaching and group cooperative learning. In addition, this specialty utilizes internet tools to promote innovative online and offline learning and emphasizes a combination of in-class and out-of-class learning.

2.2 Master of Education (Part-time Education Management)
This specialty recruits on-the-job teaching management personnel with more than 3 years of relevant work experience at elementary education and secondary vocational and technical education institutions. This specialty equips students with practical and professional knowledge in education, law and policies on non-government funded education in addition to its operation pattern and management features. At the same time, students develop their abilities to detect and effectively solve problems in the education system.
This specialty emphasizes the combination of theory and application by adopting the “double supervisors” system——an on-campus supervisor and off-campus supervisor jointly guide students' learning activities, with the latter focused on garnering practice real-world experience. 2.4 Master of Education (Pre-school Education)
This specialty is characterized by the“double supervisors” system and a“1+1 cultivation mode”, that is, theoretical learning plus teaching practice. The latter section should be no less than one year and involves such practices as probation, teaching practice, micro-teaching, and lesson case analysis. If teaching practice is carried out in kindergarten, it should be no less than half a year.

2.5 Master of Education (Vocational and Technical Education)
This specialty helps students acquire disciplinary knowledge, both practical and theoretical, about secondary vocational and technical education. It equips students with modern educational concepts, strong capabilities in teaching and conducting research. Thus, students become professionally competent for related jobs.
Four orientations include Business English, Business Japanese, Culture and Art, and E-commerce.

2.6 Elementary Education Major
Specialty Features: This specialty is characterized by three “combinations”. First is the combination of theory and practice by carrying out the “double supervisors” system, namely, supervision jointly given by both a non-campus teacher and an off-campus teacher. In addition, the teaching focuses on the combination of practice and reflection by employing methods such as case studies, simulated teaching and group cooperative learning. Third is the combination of in-class and out-of-class learning which pays more attention to active and innovative learning on the part of the students.
Core Courses: Education Principle, Psychological Development and Education, Curriculum and Teaching Theory, Education Research Methodology, Evaluation of Primary Education, Primary School Teaching Case Study, Study on Primary School Curriculum Standard, Thematic Research on Primary School Subject Curriculum and Teaching Theory.
III. International Cooperation and Exchanges
In order to equip students with an international vision and promote international educational cooperation, the Education School explores and carries out various international exchange activities and regularly holds special lectures for students. These events are coupled with the existing international exchange programs. Students are encouraged to actively participate in the Work and Travel (WAT) overseas program. At present, the rate of students going abroad is 2%.
