The Central Committee of the Communist Youth League has announced the list of “China’s Positive & Kind-Hearted Youth” in 2021, with 116 outstanding young people and 25 youth groups winning the honor. Among them is Cai Xue, an alumna of JISU and president of the Nongfeng Rice Professional Cooperative in Shulan City, Jilin Province.
Cai Xue, a 2013 Business English major graduate of JISU, has won honors such as the National Model of Meritorious Women, the National Rural Youth Leader of Getting Rich, and the National Top Ten Farmers. After graduation, she returned to her hometown to start a business with a view to leading the villagers to become increasing well off together. Over the past few years, the Cooperative has formed a complete industrial chain of yielding organic rice, with 150 members, 500 participants, and a planting area of 273 hectares covering four townships. It has increased the average income of each member by more than 6,000 yuan annually, and stimulated the employment of 146 villagers, whose wage income reached more than 1.2 million yuan in total.
In 2019, Cai Xue met Premier Li Keqiang twice to report her entrepreneurial achievements and talk about her thoughts and ideas on rural revitalization and development, which was well received by the Premier.
The “Sanlian Agriculture” Entrepreneurship Project, founded by JISU students under the guidance of Cai Xue, won the Silver Prize in the national final of the 5th China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The project that aims to promote “targeted poverty alleviation and rural revitalization” has won the support of farmers and full recognition from governments at all levels.
