Recently, the provincial quarterfinal of the 10th All-China Interpreting Contest in Jilin Province came to an end. Under the guidance of teachers Chen Jiahui and Xu Chunyang, 20 students won awards. Among them, Wang Shengran, a postgraduate English Interpretation major (2019), and Cui Yaxin, an undergraduate Translation major (1803), won the first prize. Xiong Qian, a postgraduate English Interpretation major (2021), Zhang Xiaoyan, an undergraduate of Translation Class 1803, Chen Meizhu, an undergraduate Translation major (1801), and Wu Haorong, also an undergraduate Translation major (1901), won the second prize. And Li Jiaqian, a postgraduate English Interpretation major (2020), Zhang Meiyu, an undergraduate Translation major (1803) won the third prize. All of the above students were successfully promoted to the semifinal contest. The other 12 students, including Li Jiawen, a postgraduate English Interpretation major (2020), and Han Xintong, an undergraduate Translation major (1803), won the Excellence Award. JISU students have won the first prize of Jilin Province in the All-China Interpreting Contest for nine consecutive years.
The All-China Interpreting Contest in English is one of the most valuable, recognized, and influential English interpretation contests in China. Guided by the China International Publishing Group, sponsored by the Translators Association of China, and organized by the Language Service Competence Accumulation & Training (LSCAT) Center and Transemantix Institute of Interpreting & Translation, the contest aims to promote the construction of translation discipline and the development of language service industry, cultivate high-quality language service professionals, and better serve the national development and international communication.
This contest provides a platform for students to consolidate their professional foundation, improve their ability of English application, and broaden their international vision. These are done so as to further stimulate their learning enthusiasm and enhance their sense of responsibility and mission to become high-quality language service professionals.
