Recently, the Education Department of Jilin Province and the Industry and Information Technology Department jointly issued a Notice on the Construction Projects at the Provincial Demonstrative Modern Industry College List. The “School of International Ice and Snow” applied by the School of International Culture and Tourism of JISU has been recognized as one of the first construction projects of provincial modern industrial college pilot.
Modern industrial college is an effective carrier of school-enterprise cooperation and collaborative education. Over the years, JISU continues to deepen the integration of industry and education, carry out in-depth cooperation with the government and enterprises, and create a new talent training entity which integrates industry, education, research, innovation， and application to serve the needs of regional economic and industrial services. Through jointly formulating training standards, improving training programs, constructing curriculum systems, developing teaching materials and handouts, establishing teaching teams, building training bases, implementing training processes, and evaluating training qualities.
Based on the developmental needs of the snow and ice as well as tourism industry, the International School of International Snow and Ice was founded in 2019 with the support of the Jilin Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism. It is the first industrial school in the Jilin Province to carry out theoretical research on international snow and ice culture and tourism, as well as cultivate international snow and ice talents. With the combination of school teaching, scientific research, and industry, the school together with the universities, administrations, and enterprises, has helped create an applied talents training mode: “ice and snow tourism + English + less commonly used languages” to cultivate international exchange talents and ice and snow talents, helping Jilin Province’s ice and snow culture tourism and industry go out to embrace the world.
Being selected into the pilot successfully reflects the school’s achievements in the integration of industry and education as well as the collaboration of the school and industry in education over the years. The School of Ice and Snow will further deepen the reform of the talents training mode, improve the system and mechanism of modern industrial colleges, enhance the quality of specialty construction to ensure the effectiveness of industrial college construction, and play a leading role in the Construction Projects of the Provincial Level Demonstrative Modern Industry College to provide intellectual support and talent guaranteed for regional economic and industrial development.
