Students of JISU Finish First in the 2020 Students Martial Arts Championship of Jilin Province

Recently, the Students Martial Arts Championship of Jilin Province ended successfully. The JISU martial arts team was led by, Director of the Sports Department, Zuo Jingjiang, and Coach Song Xiaojie. 9 students, who were sent to compete in 6 projects, won four gold medals and three silver medals. Huang Jinlong, majoring in Persian in the Oriental Language School from class 1901 and Zhu Jiali, majoring in Chinese International Education in the International School of Media and Communication from class 1701 won gold medals in the men’s and women’s competition of the 24-style shadowboxing respectively; Zhou Tao, majoring in International Business Management in th School of International Business Administration from class 1701, and Zhang Shiman, from School of English (Translation) in class 1901 got the men’s and women’s gold medals in the sword event accordingly; Zhang Yide, a Polish-majoring student from the School of Central and Eastern European Language in class 2001, Guan Pengfei, an English- and Japanese- majoring student from the School of Oriental Language in class 1601, and Shen Yiyang, a German-majoring student from School of Western Language (Sino-foreign Cooperative Education) in class 2002, all win silver medals in the projects of Chen Style Taichi (Old form), Sword and Shaolin Boxing.

Sponsored by the Education Department of Jilin Province, the contest was carried out by JILIN Students Sports Federation and organized by the Hongbo Sports Development Co., Ltd in Jilin province. The contest has five groups for competition, namely Elite Group, Sunshine Group, the Higher Vocational College Students Group, Junior High School Group and High School Group. The martial arts team of JISU competed fiercely with over 100 students from 18 colleges and universities in the Sunshine Group. They did their best to compete with other participants, and show their outstanding talents in the field.

This contest has further upgraded students’ martial arts skills, and enhanced exchange and learning with other universities. It continuously drives and encourages young people of JISU to pass on the traditional culture and spirits of Chinese martial arts.
