On November 8th, the second session of the Student Congress of JISU was held in the Lecture Room of Library. Miao Jing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of JISU, attended it and delivered a speech. Teachers in the Communist Youth League and secondary schools also attended the meeting. 147 members of presidium of the First School League and Academic Organization and students representatives of the Second Student Congress went to the congress.

The Scene of The Meeting

The Student Congress of JISU serves as an important organization for students to exercise democratic rights in accordance with the law and participate in democratic decision-making, management and supervision. Under the guidance of the CPC Committee of JISU, the Communist Youth League, and the Students’ Affairs Office, the first Student Congress completed the collection and implementation tasks of student representatives’ proposals. It organized and carried out activities including youth college students theme group classes. It exerted positive influences upon collecting students’ advice, taking part in the building of campus environment and cultural life in colleges, and promoting development of JISU with remarkable achievements.

At the second session of the Student Congress of JISU, student delegates on the scene listened and deliberated on the work report of the Standing Committee of the First Student Congress of JISU and the First School League and Academic Organization. They participated in and dealt with work plans of the Standing Committee of the Second Student Congress of JISU and the Second School League and Academic Organization. They started their deliberations and approved the “Student Congress Constitutions of JISU”, “Student Committee Constitutions of JISU”, and “Student Leaders Management Regulations of JISU”. The second presidium of the Student Union and the presidium of various group organizations were elected in the congress.

Lan Jixiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the First Student Congress, Jia Qi, Rotating President of the First Student Union, and Wang Xinyi, Deputy Secretary of the Student League Committee, delivered speeches respectively. They encouraged new student representatives to continue to maintain the service philosophies of “leading, cohesion, listening and serving.” Acting as a bridge between the students and school, these representatives will offer suggestions for the building and development of our campus.

Miao Jing, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of JISU addressed all student leaders and representatives. On the one hand, she required that they must stick to their ideals, advance one step at a time, and study hard. They must reaffirm their determination to support national belief of the party and inspire themselves to serve the country and its people with a down-to-earth style and unremitting efforts. They must set high expectations and combine them with reality, along with consciously bear the responsibility of national rejuvenation. On the other hand, these student leaders and representatives should cultivate noble personality and morality and be diligent in learning, setting an example for others. They should act as role models. They should be strict with themselves in safeguarding collective interests with overall situation. Finally, they should adhere to reform with a keen determination, agglomerate mental efforts and work together with others. They should give full play to the two-level model of interaction among colleges and schools to enhance the cohesion, attraction and appeal of the Student Congress to younger students.

The Second session of the Student Congress of JISU ended successfully in the university anthem.

All student representatives gain a lot. They believe that the congress is conducive to improve their sense of responsibility and mission, enhance their awareness and ability to serve others, and specifically point out further goals and requirements. All student delegates will hold the spirit of university-running concept and the culture of university. They should make their own contributions to students’ learning and growth and the building and development of JISU.
