On October 21, a piano and vocal performance from art education majors of the School of International Art was held in the Teaching and Practice Center of the Experimental Building of JISU. Thirty-four Musical Education majors from classes 2018 and 2019 participated in the performance. Professionals offered comments and guidance on their performance accordingly.

This event is an innovative measure of the School of International Art to integrate practical activity with professional theory. It strives to intensify students’ professional skills training and help them accumulate practical experience to further improve their abilities to respond to stage performance. Meanwhile, students are encouraged and guided to examine their own shortcomings and weaknesses by acting on stage personally. Guidance from professionals creates a conducive atmosphere for students to pinpoint learning goals, stimulate learning enthusiasm and improve all-round quality.

Wu Lei, an Art Education major from class 1801, said, “It is the first time for me to sing bel canto on stage. I am excited and nervous. This performance activity helps me accumulate more experience, learn to summarize and reflect on myself, and know how to work in the future.” Gou Shuqi, one of Wu Lei’s classmates, said: “When I stepped on the stage, I felt that I was a master of it. I will continue to study hard to lay a solid professional foundation, and try my best to perform better next time!”

Chen Jiyue, an Art Education major from class 1901, said, “The performance deepens my understanding of an old saying--‘One minute on the stage, and ten years of practice off the stage.’” Only by working hard in daily life can we better perform on stage. And nervousness-handling plays a vital role, too.” Liu Yanting, a classmate of Chen Jiyue’s, said: “This is not only a show but also a test for what we have learned over the past year. I will keep on improving myself to get more professional and more outstanding.”
