On the evening of November 15, the First Graduate Student Congress of Jilin International Studies University was held in conference room 411 of the New Global Village. Zhang Pankun, Secretary of CPC General Branch of the Graduate School, attended the meeting and made a speech. Seventy-nine students attended this meeting, including representatives of the Eighth Graduate Student Union Chairman’s League and of the first graduate students.

Zhen Mingzhe, President of the Eighth Graduate Student Union, gave a speech. He summarized the work and achievement of the Eighth Graduate Student Union from several aspects, such as recreational and sports activities, foreign exchanges, career planning and so on, and then he put forward expectations and requirements for the 9th Graduate Student Union.

The meeting deliberated and approved several documents, namely, Report of the First Graduate Student Congress of Jilin Foreign Studies University, Constitution of The Graduate Student Congress of Jilin Foreign Studies University, Constitution of The Graduate Student Union of Jilin Foreign Studies University and Regulations on the Administration of Graduate Student Cadres of Jilin Foreign Studies University. The meeting also elected the council of the Ninth Graduate Student Congress.

Zhang Pankun made remarks and pointed out that the First Graduate Student Union is of great significance for graduate education and management work with the crucial mission of exploring and leading graduate students to realize self-management, to self-serve, and to express their sound performance and quality. He shared his wish to all graduate student representatives that they should enhance service consciousness, improve self-construction, carry forward the spirit of innovation, create a working academic climate, keep abreast of the times, and establish long-term development that dedicates their lives to support and practice the “Chinese dream” which is to realize the great rejuvenation of the China and the “two goals of one hundred years”. All the representatives are expected to promote and navigate our campus culture. They should play as a bridge and link for graduate students in the development of JISU and contribute their strengths to the construction of JISU’s characteristics as a high-level university.
