On August 17, the 27th Congress of All-China Students’ Federation was held in Beijing, China. Chinese President Xi Jinping, also General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, sent a congratulatory message. These special words were read by Chen Xixuan, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Head of the Central Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee. Wang Huning, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, and other leaders of the Party and state attended the opening ceremony. Sun Chunlan, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council delivered a speech on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.

The conference was held online, with parallel sessions set up in all provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. Gao Zhao, a Russian-major who was in the undergraduate class of 2018 from the School of Central and Eastern European Languages at JISU, attended the meeting as one of the representatives of Jilin Province.

The conference summarized the past five years’ work of the All-China Youth Federation and the All-China Students’ Federation, decided on the tasks for the next five years, modified the Articles of Association of the All-China Youth Federation and the Articles of Association of All-China Students, determined the emblem of the ACYF, and elected new leadership for the two organizations.

      After the opening ceremony, the representatives who attended the conference studied Xi’s congratulation letter, and the speeches made by Vice Premier Sun Chunlan and He Junke, the First Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, discussed and reviewed the drafts and resolutions, and then elected the members of the 27th Committee of the All-China Students’ Federation.

After the conference, Gao Zhao said, “It is a great honor for me to serve as one of Jilin’s representatives to the 27th All-China Students’ Federation to learn from Xi’s congratulatory letter and the speech by Vice Premier Sun Chunlan. As a young Chinese adult in the new era, we should firmly grasp the main theme of the time that Chinese youth must strive for the “Chinese dream” for the great rejuvenation of our nation. We should consciously keep up with the Party in thought, follow the Party in actions, resonate with the Party in emotion, and never forget our historical responsibilities. By following these principles, we, the youth of China, should work hard to turn ‘promising’ into ‘fruitful’ and integrate ourselves into the nation as a whole. Today, I learned that the young generation in the new era have responsibilities on their shoulders as they are the hope of China, and the future of our nation. In the days ahead, we should be more patriotic, devoting our brilliant life to working for the grass-roots units and serving the people.”
