JISU Holds a Psychological Counseling Skills Training for Counselors During Epidemic Prevention and Control Period

On May 8, JISU held psychological counseling skills training for counselors during epidemic prevention and control period in the library. All of the directors from the Student Affairs Office from different departments and counselors attended this training.

In order to improve the psychological “helping” abilities of the counselors for better work towards students during the epidemic prevention and control period, Meng Wei, Director of the Mental Health Education Guidance Center, made targeted explanations from “Common Psychological Problems of Students during the Epidemic Period”, “Psychological Counseling Skills for Counselors” and “Psychological Care of Counselors”. Combined with the relevant theoretical knowledge and practical work experience of psychology, she conducted systematic counseling on how to understand and master students’ psychological problems during the epidemic, how to enhance emotional communication with studentshow to do a good job in psychological counseling of students, and how to discover and identify the psychological crisis of students in time through love, contact, communication, attention and support.

This training was problem-oriented, with positive psychological counseling with technology as a means of communication, which is of guiding significance for the counselors to relieve their demand during the epidemic period, carry out epidemic prevention and control work, improve crisis management capabilities, and protect the physical and mental health of students. The training fully prepared the counselors for the psychological work of having students return to the university from the theoretical and practical perspectives.

Counselors said that the training kept pace with the actual psychological work needs of the counselors, which laid the foundation for them to adjust work mentality, establish positive work goals, and master effective work processes. All counselors will continue to use love and companionship to do a good job of psychological support for students.
