December 8 witnessed the official release of the final results of the First Intelligent Classroom Teaching Innovation Competition for Undergraduate Universities in Jilin. Lin Xiangshu, a teacher from the School of Oriental Languages, won first prize. Guan Hua and Zhao Xiangyu, who are both from the School of English, won second prize. And Li Xiaolin and Wang Lingling, teachers from the School of English, won third prize.

The competition was held at Northeast Normal University under the guidance of the Jilin Provincial Department of Education and the Jilin Provincial Federation of Trade Unions. Following the theme of “Creating Innovative Classes for Courses in Jilin Province”, the competition focused on providing student-centered educational courses. The competition lasted 7 months, and included a great number of universities, faculty groups, fields of study, and teaching methods. The finals made a strong impact on faculty and studetns alike and the affects will contribute greatly to the current reforms taking place in Jilin education.

The finals used a webcast to give faculty and students alike the opportunity to watch excellent teachers from various colleges and universities of Jilin province and learn from their teaching methods. Faculty members of JISU commented that the live broadcasting gave them valuable new ideas that they want to incorporate into their own teaching to help students obtain a more well-rounded education.
