Volunteer Training Classes For the Confucius Institute in 2020 for the Spanish, Russian and Japanese Languages Held at JISU

On December 5th, the opening ceremony of Chinese Volunteer Teachers Training Class for Confucius Institute Headquarters in Spanish, Russian and Japanese in 2020 was held at JISU.

The Opening Ceremony

He Yingjie, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Education Department of Jilin Province, Zhou Yijun and Zheng Danqing from the Jilin Provincial Teaching and Training Center for Chinese as a Foreign Language, Liao Anyong, Assistant to the Dean, and the heads of College of Continuing Education, College of Western Languages, School of Eastern European Languages, College of Oriental Languages, and other departments attended the ceremony. Zuo Yuling, Dean of the School of Continuing Education, presided over the ceremony. One-hundred two Chinese volunteer teachers from fifty-eight universities in China participated in the ceremony.

He Yingjie and Liao Anyong awarded the "Chinese Volunteer Teacher Training Camp" banner to the trainee representatives.

Liao Anyong addressed the volunteers at the opening ceremonies. He extended a warm welcome to the volunteers, thanked the Confucius Institute for their support and trust in our university, and put forward four requirements for the volunteers: first, study hard, laying a solid foundation and improving their teaching skills; second, make a sufficient physical and psychological preparation for working and living in a strange environment of different cultures for a long time, maintain an optimistic attitude, and adapt to the working and living environment of the country as soon as possible; third, be responsible, helpful and hardworking and carry forward the spirit of volunteerism; fourth, share China’s culture and stories well so that the world will  understand China more.

Xiao Keyi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, spoke on behalf of the training experts. He explained his responsibilities, mission, and professional qualities as a Chinese volunteer teacher based on his own experience. He hopes that during the training, volunteers will be able to update their teaching concepts, enrich their knowledge of China, improve the level of Chinese teaching, and promote their intercultural communication skills. He also hoped they will become qualified Chinese volunteer teachers by using knowledge, ability, and charm to teach Chinese and spread Chinese culture, promoting friendship between China and foreign countries.

Lu Qing, a postgraduate of Hubei University, spoke on behalf of the trainees. He said that as a Chinese volunteer teacher, he feels that he, “has a heavy responsibility,” and an, “arduous mission.” He will study hard and observe the disciplines and in order to fulfill the task successfully. He will prepare well.

Finally, all the trainees solemnly swore facing the national flag: "We will keep in mind the trust of the motherland, carry forward the spirit of dedication to maintain national dignity and spread Chinese culture with the concept of harmony, and devote ourselves to the international popularization of the Chinese language.

The training course will last for thirty-two days. The trainees will participate in a comprehensive training in language, culture, etiquette, psychology and safety. In order to guarantee the quality and effect of the training, many departments of JISU cooperate with each other to provide well-designed courses and logistical support. In order to help trainees successfully fulfill the task of international promotion of Chinese in the new era, well-known experts and scholars in the field of humanities and social sciences at home and abroad, outstanding teachers, and returned Chinese volunteer teachers, etc. will be invited to give lectures where there is a hope that the new volunteers’ senses of responsibility, mission and honor will be grown.
