On December 11, more than 100 young volunteers from JISU gathered in Shiqiao Building to attend the training conference for the Annual Meeting of China Reform (2019), which was organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC, the Changchun Municipal Committee, and the Office of Changchun Municipal government.
Sources stated that th Annual Meeting of China Reform (2019) and the China Reform Yearbook compilation meeting will be held in Changchun from December 19 to 22. The Publicity Department of the CPC Changchun Municipal Branch is responsible for volunteer recruitment, training, and conference security during the meeting. In order to provide the high-standard volunteer service work for this grand event, the Volunteer Service Team from Jilin International Studies University (JISU) was especially singled out to undertake the service and support work for the conference.
During the training, Yao Li, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, offered systematic training on volunteerism and practice, together with other leaders. Volunteers unanimously said that they would uphold the spirit of public welfare and the bridge spirit of JISU, carrying forward the work style of being “pragmatic, excellent, and careful”, devoting themselves to volunteer service and showing the beauty of of youth in Changchun.
JISU stands as a training base for foreign language and foreign affairs learning in Jilin Province. Since its establishment, JISU has always been a non-profit university. In the past 24 years, an orientation towards serving the public“ has motivated the school to have a spirit for volunteer work. For many years, JISU has established a Youth Volunteers Federation to turn "volunteer services" into practical credits and has incorporated them into undergraduate talent training programs. Equipped with professional foreign language levels and serious and responsible service attitudes, student volunteers have won wide acclaim from all circles of the society in the large-scale international events such as the Beijing Olympics, the Shanghai World Expo, the Asian Winter Games, and the Northeast Asia Expo. Nowadays, "everyone participates in voluntary service," and public service is a part of JISU's identity. Through teaching the importance of, "growing the spirit of public welfare and cultivating students with a sense of social responsibility" JISU has enriched the education given to students who attend. The school has won many honors such as the "Jilin Provincial Volunteer Service Organization Model", the "Changchun Top Ten Volunteer Service Organization", "Changchun’s Most Beautiful Youth Volunteer Service Organization" etc..
By volunteering, many of JISU’s students have participated in notable events. In 2017, more than 500 volunteers from JISU participated in the promotional video "Meeting Beijing in 2022" for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, which was affirmed and praised by the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympic Organizing Committee. In 2019, 112 volunteers from JISU participated in the performance of the Changchun FAW branch of 2019 CCTV Spring Festival Evening, which was also praised by the Jilin Provincial Government.
