In early August, eighteen finance students, the first since the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic approved the JISU-NJCU educational joint program of finance in 2015, started their new campus life at New Jersey City University (NJCU). They will graduate in one year with diplomas from both JISU and NJCU and a bachelor's degree certificate recognized by the education departments of China and the United States after completing their studies and meeting the graduation requirements of NJCU.

On July 25, NJCU held a grand welcoming ceremony for JISU’s students. Sue Henderson, president of NJCU, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. She expressed a warm welcome to JISU’s students and hopes for closer relationship and cooperation with JISU. Tamara Cunningham, vice president of NJCU hosted the ceremony.
American teacher teaching specialized courses
JISU’s students have been actively participating in language courses and American cultural activities since the semester started. With the help of American teachers and students, they earnestly learned professional knowledge, participated in English corners to improve their speaking proficiency, and visited the New Jersey Modern Science and Technology Museum, the New York World Trade Center, Wall Street, the Statue of Liberty among other places to gain a better understanding of American culture. They all showed their strong desire to study hard and take full advantage of the resources at this university.

In 2015, JISU established the Confucius Institute with NJCU and the two universities jointly launched an undergraduate educational program of finance under the approval of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic. As a result, they began enrolling students in 2016. The program has already benefited the universities by introducing new high-quality educational resources, sharing foreign experience in school-administration and education methods, and improving student training and social service capabilities.
