On September 11th, an Opening Ceremony for 2019 Fall International Students was held at the Practice Teaching Center for International Languages and Culture at the Chinese Village of the Global Village at our school. 102 international students from 14 countries including Italy, America, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Russia, Mongolia, France, Morocco, Indonesia and Tajikistan attended the ceremony.

On behalf of JISU, Vice President Wang Jie delivered a speech expressing President Qin He’s sincere greetings to all the students. He also introduced the history and achievements of JISU in international exchanges and cooperation, illustrated our ideals of “Talents cultivation by teaching, management, services and environment” and earnestly hoped that all foreign students could make progress in their studies and live a happy life at JISU.

Zhang Yulei, a representative teacher from the School of International Exchanges, greatly welcomed students and said that all staff would spare no efforts to improve international students’ Chinese so that they can enjoy the glamour of speaking Chinese. Finally, he hoped that all students could make great achievements at JISU.

The international student representative Daisy, an Italian girl, told about her life here at JISU and the great progress she has made in learning Chinese and Chinese culture. She showed her gratitude to the school and to the teachers’ expertise. She also encouraged the freshmen to participate in various activities to improve their Chinese as well as learn more about China.

After the ceremony, a police officer surnamed Xu from the Exit and Entry Administration of Jilin, held a class for all foreign students to discuss the terms of Chinese laws and regulations, foreign students’ visas and the safety of international students. The class was held using easy-to-understand language and real-life examples. Through this class, students were made aware of the discipline requirements of JISU and how they should tackle problems to better adapt themselves to life at JISU.
