Thanks to the collaboration of and promotion by entities such as the Changchun Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO), Changchun Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Jilin International Studies University and Jilin Translators Association, the first meeting for the Preparatory Committee of Changchun Consultation Association of International Friends was held on May 14th, 2019. At the meeting, Jilin International Studies University was selected as the permanent secretariat. The official unveiling ceremony of the fraternity was determined to be held at JISU on May 25th. Qi Guohua, Director General of CCFAO, was elected as the chairman and Professor Peng Mingxin was elected as the deputy secretary-general.
Recently, Changchun has been becoming more and more international as China continues to open up more to other countries, which in turn has attracted an increasing number of international companies and more foreign friends to come work, study and live in the city. In order to create a sound international business environment and improve the level of service for the foreign-funded enterprises and foreign friends, while being in line with the basic regulations of foreign affairs in Changchun City and in response to the proposal made by the foreign friends in the city, the People’s Government of Changchun City has decided to set up the Changchun Consultation Association of International Friends.
The association is meant to unite and liaise with the foreign-funded enterprises and foreign friends in Changchun City; put forward ideas and suggestions for the socioeconomic development of Changchun City; provide input regarding special work of the local government and competent departments; help the local government and competent departments cooperate with foreign countries; help the foreign-funded enterprises and foreign friends in Changchun City with difficulties and problems they encounter in their work and daily life; and assist the foreign-funded enterprises and foreign friends in organizing cultural and sporting events.
