To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Journalist Association in Jilin Huaqiao University of Foreign Languages (HQUFL), an opening of the 8th Journalist’s Day for College Students and a seminar of journalism experts were hosted in Room 405 in the 4th Teaching Building at 5:30 p.m. on October 16, 2018. Zhang Ying, Assistant President of the uninversity, led a delegation to make a speech in the beginning. Liu Huai, Director of the Cultural and Educational Department, working with Jilin Daily, delivered a lecture named News Interview and Writing, with an invitation of President Qin He. Abundant numbers of college student journalists came to participate in the opening and seminar in the university.



Zhang Yin made a detailed introduction of the development of the Journalist Association in HQUFL for the last 20 years. She highly praised the important role played by the Association in communication. She also explained the reason for the Journalist Day here in the hope that all of the college student journalists should positively report a variety of activities and be able to sharpen the capabilities of reviewing and writing news in order to make contributions to improvement of the development, particularlyin university communication.


Mr. Liu Huai candidly described how a piece of news was produced by vivid stories. He also outlined the fundamental qualities and merits an excellent news reporter must have. All the studentspresent enormously benefited from Mr. Liu Huai’s lecture.



Shi Bingfang, an undergraduate majoring in Chinese language and literature, said, “I wasimpressed by the lecture. Ihave learned the skills related to journalism through the humorous and interesting stories brought by Mr. Liu Huai. I aminspired to have a good nose for news and keep it sensitive all the time,form my own vision, and learn to think critically and find things out in the process of getting more experience.”
DuanChenxu, a freshman majoring in Farsi, said,“I am encouraged by the lecture to practice exercises, reporting, learning and thinking. We should have insight, sensitivity and perception. Beinga journalist atHQUFL is new and rewarding. I hope to learn more in the following four years of study and be an excellent journalist after graduation.”
