The finance major educational program is a cooperative project between JISU and New Jersey City University, which was ratified by the Ministry of Education in 2015. The program adopts a “3+1” model, which means that students will study in JISU for their first 3 years, and in New Jersey City University for the last year. If students pass all the examinations of their courses, they will get a bachelor’s degree from both universities. This project began in 2016. Since the day of enrollment, Chinese-foreign cooperative education has been included into the undergraduate program. It became an important part of the university, and students enjoy the same treatment as ordinary undergraduates during their school years.
New Jersey City University is located in Jersey City, New Jersey, which isjust across the river from Manhattan, New York. Founded in 1929, the school is a comprehensive public university offering 32 undergraduate programs and 19 graduate programs. In 2007, it ranked 58th of universities in North America. Now it has 10,000 students from more than 330 regions in 50 countries around the world. The business school that offers the finance degree has been certified by Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.
The Sino-US cooperative education program is jointly formulated by the two Chinese and American institutions and the credits are acknowledged by both. From the courses offered, Chinese teachers teach 65.9% of the teaching hours, and American teachers teach 34.1% of them. The syllabus and original English textbook is provided by New Jersey City University, while American teachers give classes in English, and Chinese teachers assist by teaching in both Chinese and English.
As soon as students finish all the courses and pass all the examinations, assuming they have not displayed unreasonable behavior during their undergraduate study, they will get the diploma and degree certification from both universities. If students are unable to go abroad for the last-year of study at New Jersey City University and receive the permission of HQUFL, they can continue their study at the finance program (non-cooperative Education Project) in HQUFL. Accordingly, when they finish their courses, they will earn a diploma and degree certification of JISU. American Degree certification is issued by New Jersey City University and acknowledged in China after being certified by the National Education Administration. The degree certificate is also acknowledged in the Commonwealth countries.
