The Joint Cooperative Education Project between Munich University of Applied Languages (SDI Munich) and Jilin International Studies University (JISU) was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2016. The project adopts the training model of “3+1”, which means the 1st-3rd year will be conducted in JISU and the fourth in SDI Munich. It is the only project offering recognized and accredited bachelor’s degree jointly by Sino-Germany universities in China. Since the enrollment started in 2017, the project has been considered as one of the normal bachelor projects, and the enrolled students can enjoy all the scholarship and living allowance here.
Located in Munich City, the capital of Bavaria in Germany, SDI Munich was originally the Institute for Languages and Interpreting (SDI), one of the renowned universities for cultivating translators and interpreters in Germany or even Europe. It is the only one which offers higher education for languages study in Germany. The German-Chinese Translation major is the only major (bachelor project) in Germany offering courses on Chinese translation and interpreting. It contains a certificate awarded by the German Ministry of Education and the Administration of Accreditation Examinations for Translators and Interpreters. The students who pass the examination and get the certificate can have the sworn translator’s license granted by the government.SDI Munich is also the official training center for the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs for the cultivating of German simultaneous interpreters.
The courses of the joint cooperative education project will be provided by both universities, which include 64.9% teaching hours in HQUFL and 35.1% in SDI Munich. The courses provided by HQUFL will be processed according to textbooks and evaluation systems regulated by HQUFL, while the courses provided by SDI Munich will be according to those of SDI Munich. The two universities will decide the teaching plans together in order to provide the best education for the students.
The candidates who finish all required courses and meet all graduating requirements will be granted diplomas and BA’s by both the universities. If the student cannot finish his/her senior year in Germany because of personal reasons, he/she can finish it in HQUFL, and will be granted a diploma and BA by HQUFL.
I．Teaching Goals
Following the nation’s “Made in China 2025” strategy and the economic transformation in the Northeast region, the project is determined to cultivate qualified translators and interpreters for the society to support the rejuvenation of Old Industrial Bases and the development of Chang-Ji-Tu Pilot Zone. The project is designed to cultivate Chinese-German translation and interpretation talents equipped with basic financial and economical knowledge.
II. Training Targets
1. Knowledge
1) Master the required general and professional knowledge;
2) Fluent in both spoken and written German, and expertise in Chinese-German translation and interpreting skills;
3) Familiar with the basic information and typical process of international trades.
2. Ability
1) Can translate and interpret in fields of international trade, industrial manufacturing and cultural communication;
2) Master fundamental linguistics theory of German;
3) Familiar with German culture and equipped with the ability of intercultural communication and language application.

4. Certificates
Students can apply for professional certificates (i.e. Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters, etc.).

A Guide on German and Europe’s Culture and Economy, Chinese-German Translation, Conference Interpreting, Introduction to Terminology Processing, etc.
