Recently, the international freshmen orientation was held at the International Exchange Center, Jilin International Studies University (JISU). Song Dandan, Dean of the School of International Exchange, delivered a speech. More than 40 international students from nine countries, including Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, Laos, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Iran, and Indonesia, participated in this activity.

Song extended a warm welcome to the new students on behalf of the school. She stated that as an elite, non-profit, application-oriented, internationalized and distinctively featured foreign languages university, JISU has always been committed to building a bridge that combines Chinese and foreign cultures. The school’s talent cultivation model of “foreign languages + majors” will help international students integrate into their study and life as soon as possible. She hoped that the students could lay a solid foundation in their majors, explore different cultures, and serve bonds of Sino-foreign friendship in the future.

Denis, a Russian student and a master’s candidate majoring in TCSOL from the School of International Communication, Class 2022, delivered a speech on behalf of the international students, extending a welcome to the new students for joining the big family of JISU.

Teachers from the School of International Exchange introduced relevant matters such as the handling procedures of entry certificates, the school rules, the classroom regulations, the curriculum composition, and the final examinations. Wang Zihan and Liu Yutong, representatives of the orientation volunteers and senior students majoring in TCSOL, Yuan Qikai a junior majoring in French, and Shi Fangyu a sophomore from the Experimental Class of French, English and Spanish respectively introduced the campus study and living environment. They also led the international students on a campus tour, enabling them to experience the campus cultural atmosphere of the school.

The international students are full of anticipation for their college life at JISU. They said that they were very glad to come to JISU for study, a place full of vitality and motivation for learning. They expressed their determination to study hard, experience the excellent Chinese culture, and continuously improve their Chinese proficiency. “We look forward to having a pleasant and fulfilling university life at Jilin International Studies University!” they said.
