Founded in 1998, the Library of Jilin International Studies University serves as the institution’s knowledge center, learning hub, and cultural center. The new building was completed and opened in 2017, covering 20,000 m². Designed according to principles of modernization, informatization, ecology, and internationalization, it is equipped with first-class service facilities. The entire library operates an open-shelf, integrated system for collection, lending, and reading, enabling patrons to borrow and return materials via self-service and enjoy full Wi-Fi coverage. The spaces on Floors 1 through 4 are arranged around four core functions—cultural relaxation, document services, discussion and seminars, and independent study. The library currently offers over 3,000 reading seats, 17 seminar rooms, one electronic reading room with 50 seats, one conference room, and one academic lecture hall. It is open 16 hours a day (6:00 AM–10:00 PM), seven days a week, 355 days a year.
The library boasts abundant collections. As of December 2024, holdings include 1.21 million printed volumes, 1.75 million e-books, 746,000 e-journal titles, and 46 Chinese and foreign language databases. Online resources are available 24 hours a day, allowing users to search and download materials at any time. These comprehensive resources fully support the university’s teaching, research, and professional talent training needs.
With its rich documentation resources, open service model, and student-centered service philosophy, the library actively contributes to the cultivation of practice-oriented professionals, achieving excellent service outcomes. It welcomes an average of 5,000 visits per day and more than 1.1 million patron visits per year. Satisfaction with library services among faculty and students has consistently remained above 95 percent.
The library is a member of the China Academic Humanities and Social Sciences Library (CASHL) and the China–U.S. University Digital Library Cooperation Program (CADAL), as well as both a member and a service library of the China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS). In recent years, it has been repeatedly recognized as an advanced unit for union catalog data development, small-language database construction, and Western-language database construction; as an advanced unit within the Jilin Provincial Library System; and as an advanced unit for nationwide reading promotion.
