Recently, the China Association of Higher Education announced the list of universities selected for the “China-Arab Universities 10+10 Cooperation Plan,” and Jilin International Studies University（JISU） was chosen as a member institution in its “Youth Development Field.” This marks a significant milestone for JISU in promoting higher education cooperation between China and Arab countries and seizing new opportunities under the “Belt and Road” framework. It holds great importance and far-reaching implications for advancing the construction of an international exchange hub and enhancing the school’s level of internationalization.

The Plan is an initiative launched in response to the “Eight Joint Actions for Practical Cooperation between China and Arab Countries,” specifically the “Joint Action for Youth Development,” proposed by President Xi Jinping at the first China-Arab States Summit held in Riyadh in December 2022. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Education, the China Association of Higher Education and the Association of Arab Universities have jointly established the “China-Arab University Alliance” exchange mechanism. This platform facilitates inter-university exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Arab institutions, promoting the shared development of higher education in China and Arab countries.  

The Plan focuses on ten key areas: information and communication, agricultural development, health, green innovation, energy transition, cultural dialogue, youth development, public policy, aerospace, and economic and trade investment. It establishes ten university cooperation clusters to strengthen inter-university exchanges and collaboration within each cluster, jointly advancing the development of higher education in these fields between China and Arab countries.

▲In September 2018, JISU hosted the “Experience the Northeast, Deepen China-Egypt Friendship” educational aid project initiated by Ministry of Education, welcoming faculty and students from Cairo University, Egypt, to experience Chinese culture on campus.

In recent years, JISU has extensively engaged in educational and research exchanges and cooperation with higher education institutions in Arab countries. It has signed cooperation agreements and established partnerships with Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Suez Canal University, Sadat Academy for Management Sciences, the British University in Egypt, the Egyptian Literature Publishing House, the Egyptian Chinese Students and Scholars Association, the Egyptian Chinese General Association, and Chinese enterprises in Egypt. JISU has collaborated with Cairo University on “2+2” dual-degree programs and graduate talent cultivation. Multiple visits to Egyptian universities and enterprises and receiving delegations from Egyptian universities and educational groups have involved nearly 100 faculty members and students from JISU in academic exchanges and 300 Egyptian students in joint training.
