Vice Consul Luo Yike and his delegation talk with JISU
On the afternoon of March 28, 2024, Luo Yike, Vice Consul for Cooperation of the Cultural and Educational Cooperation Section of the Consulate General of France in Shenyang, visited Jilin International Studies University(JISU) to discuss matters related to international exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. Wang Zhiguo, Vice President of JISU, attended the meeting. Wang Qiang, Head of the Higher Education Department’s Promotion and Study Abroad Guidance Division of the Cultural and Educational Cooperation Section, accompanied the delegation. Relevant officials from the JISU’s Office of International Exchanges and Cooperation and the School of Western Languages also participated in the talks.
At the meeting, Wang Zhiguo extended a warm welcome to Vice Consul Luo and his delegation. He expressed hope to further strengthen cooperation and exchanges with French universities, continuously innovate cooperation models, deepen and broaden collaboration, and elevate Sino-French educational exchanges and cooperation to a higher level.
In his speech, Vice Consul Luo Yike highly praised JISU’s achievements in international education and its role as a bridge in France-China cultural exchanges. He pledged to provide strong support for the university’s French-related program development and create favorable conditions to advance in-depth cooperation between the university and French higher education institutions.
At the promotional seminar held by Consulate General of France in Shenyang, they offered detailed insights into France’s higher education system, study abroad advantages, and relevant information. The event included interactive exchanges with students on topics such as French language learning, study abroad opportunities, and career prospects. Fifty students from the JISU’s School of Western Languages attended the session.
Established in 2003 for undergraduate programs, JISU’s French major began offering Master degree in French Interpretation in 2016 and added a French Translation track in 2021. Recognized as a “Featured Specialty” under Jilin Province’s 12th Five-Year Plan in 2011, it was designated a Provincial Brand Specialty in 2014, a Provincial First-Class Specialty in 2019, and a National First-Class Specialty in 2021. In recent years, over 50 students have been sent to France for advanced studies. The French major maintains an employment rate above 90%, with steady annual growth. Many outstanding graduates have pursued postgraduate studies at renowned domestic and international universities, while others have secured positions at Fortune Global 500 companies like Sinohydro Bureau 1 Co., Ltd. and China Road and Bridge Corporation, contributing to frontline France-China exchanges.
