On May 6th, the China Association of Higher Education announced the list of Chinese member universities for the “China-Africa Universities 100 Cooperation Plan” and the “China-Africa University Alliance” exchange mechanism. Jilin International Studies University(JISU) officially joined the Alliance. This marks a new opportunity for the school to promote higher education cooperation between China and Africa, and will have a profound impact on advancing the construction of an international exchange hub and enhancing the level of its international education.
The “Cooperation Plan” is a significant initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping at the Johannesburg China-Africa Leaders’ Dialogue to implement the “China-Africa Talent Development Cooperation Plan.” Building on the foundation of the “China-Africa Universities 20+20 Cooperation Plan,” this initiative is being advanced under the guidance of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Ministry of Education. The China Association of Higher Education, in collaboration with the Association of African Universities, has established the “China-Africa University Alliance Exchange Mechanism.” This mechanism focuses on ten key areas, including digital education, health, media communication, and national image, aiming to strengthen deep cooperation between China and Africa in scientific research, student exchange, faculty visits, and talent development. Together, these efforts aim to promote the comprehensive development of higher education in China and Africa.
In recent years, Jilin International Studies University has actively engaged in exchanges and cooperation with higher education institutions in Africa, establishing partnerships with multiple African universities and organizations. These collaborations include student exchange programs, dual-degree initiatives, and graduate training, among other forms of cooperation. These efforts have enhanced mutual understanding between the educational communities of China and Africa and provided broader development opportunities for faculty and students from both sides. JISU will seize this opportunity to further consolidate and expand its educational cooperation network in Africa, building a solid bridge to strengthen educational exchanges between China and Africa.
