On November 3rd, the National Conference on the Construction of New Liberal Arts was held atShandong University (Weihai city). On behalf of private universities, President Qin He attended this conference.
Under the guidance of the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, the conference was organized and convened by the New Liberal Arts Construction working group of the Ministry of Education. With the theme of implementing the spirit of the National Education Conference and fulfilling the requirements of the National Undergraduate Education Conference in the new era, the conference aimed to comprehensively promote the construction of new liberal arts, to build a new pattern of development of philosophy and social sciences centered on the cultivation of talents, and to accelerate the cultivation of liberal arts talents in the new era.
At the conference, Wu Yan, director of the Department of Higher Education from within the Ministry of Education, made a report entitledBuild Momentum, Seek And Adapt to Changes, And Comprehensively Promote the Construction of New Liberal Arts. In addition, theDeclaration on the Construction of New liberal Artswas reported, and then attendees made an overall plan work for the construction of new liberal arts.
President Qin He said this meeting is a milestone in deepening China’s higher education reform, especially in promoting the development of the humanities and social sciences. JISU will take the construction of new liberal arts as an opportunity to comprehensively carry out the innovation and reform of education, deepen the interdisciplinary integration, and cultivate high-quality applied talents in foreign languages and foreign affairs in the new era.
