7 Majors in JISU Approved for the Second Bachelor Degree Education

On July 10, the Ministry of Education announced on its website the latest recorded name list ofthe second bachelor degree majors inuniversities and colleges. A total of 7 majors, including International Economics and Trade, Education, International Chinese Education, Japanese, Korean, Translation, and Finance in JISU were authorized by the Ministry of Education to be the second bachelor degree majors with a respective 2-year period of study.

On May 29, the Ministry of Education released on its websitethe Notice on Continuing the Second Bachelor Degree Education in Universities and Colleges by the Office of the Ministry of Education.

The notice shows that the Ministry of Education decided to continue the second bachelor degree in universities and colleges. Those colleges and universities that have passed the undergraduate teaching evaluation for at least five years are qualified to apply for the second bachelor degree education. They can admit students in the current second bachelor degree majors or by applying for new second bachelor degree majors, which should be reported to be registered in the Ministry of Education before recruitment. The revoked second degree majors should apply again to be registered. The registration work and new undergraduate majors setting per year are carried out simultaneously.

The second bachelor degree is set up to recruit new university and college graduates who obtain a bachelor degree the same year as well as the graduates who have finished their undergraduate courses and obtained a degree but remained unemployed for less than three years. Students can apply for a second bachelor degree major that is out of their original discipline or one that is within the original discipline but is a different major. Students can search for “Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Majors List (version 2020)” on the official website (www.moe.gov.cn) of the Ministry of Education to learn more about major types and the disciplines they belong to. Students have to complete required courses within the time given. Students who meet the requirements of graduation and degree confirmation will be awarded the graduation certificate and degree certificate by their colleges and universities.
