On May 11^th, the finals of the 8^th“LSCAT Cup” National Interpretation Contest (Jilin Division) were held at Changchun University of Science and Technology. Xu Chunyang, a teacher from the School of Translation and Interpreting, won the championship for the third times in a row and was awarded the title “Star of Interpreting.” In addition, our undergraduate Yi Xiangyue, a Junior majoring in translation, and Li Ke, a 1^styear post-graduate student studying English Interpreting, won the third prize at the contest under the guidance of Xu and our teacher Wang Changwei.

This contest consisted of two parts: translating English into Chinese and Chinese into English, and it attracted nearly 70 contestants from universities and colleges all across Jilin Province. Xu Chuanyang was a postgraduate of English Interpreting who graduated from JISU in 2018 and then stayed here as a teacher. This is the third time that he has participated in the contest. Due to his excellent interpreting skills, rich experience and strong mentality, he won the championship once again.

After the contest, judges praised our students’ performances. Teachers from other schools came to exchange ideas with our teachers and they shared their teaching experiences with each other.

This contest was a platform that clearly displayed our forward progress as a university through teaching reform and also served as an opportunity to enrich our students with new and valuable experience.
