On April 19^th, the launching ceremony of the 5^thJilin Provincial “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students was held at JISU.

Xu Shibin, Chief Inspector of the Education Steering Committee of Jilin Provincial Government, President Qin He of JISU, Zhang Rui, a member of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, Chen Jing, Secretary-General of the Chinese Universities Innovation and Entrepreneurship Incubator Alliance, Zhou Luohong, Director of the Chinese Universities Entrepreneurship and Investment Committee, and Jiang Nan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Universities Innovation and Entrepreneurship Industrial Investment Alliance, attended the ceremony. All the heads of universities in Jilin Province responsible for innovation and entrepreneurship education, heads of relevant departments and those from all municipalities and autonomous prefectures, instructors and student representatives also attended the ceremony. Song Hui, Director of the Higher Education Division of Jilin Provincial Education Department, hosted the ceremony.

Xu Shibin stressed that in accordance with the principle of “Being more Comprehensive, more International, more Innovative, more Educational, and more China-characteristic,” the 5^thannual competition will adhere to the pursuit of “Broader Horizons, Wider Participation, Faster Transformation, Higher Standards, and More Jilin Features” and the “1 plus 4”model of competitionin greater efforts to make the Provincial Final of the 5^thCompetition “1” great success at the higher level. Meanwhile, “4” activities will be carried out simultaneously centered on the requirements for a comprehensive and all-round rejuvenation of Jilin Province. Namely, “the Red Journey of Dreams-building for the Youth” is to give lectures of politics about situations of Jilin Province; “Dual-demonstration Exchange Symposium” is to give lessons about innovation and entrepreneurship;“Dual-connection, Dual Driving Force” is to give classes about innovation-driven development; and the “Star of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Award Competition” is to set examples and give demonstrations. Making this higher-level competition with characteristics a great success is a shared aspiration of all education fronts in Jilin Province. This Competition also serves as an important platform to test the education reform and achievements in innovation and entrepreneurship. Therefore, all universities, local governments, and working units should, taking this competition as an opportunity, sharpen their sense of responsibility, broaden their horizon, and pay more attention to reform, in order to make greater progress in innovation and entrepreneurship education with more efforts.

This year, JISU won the bid to host the 5^thCompetition. President Qin He delivered a speech at the launching ceremony. She noted that JISU, as a base for cultivating high-end practical talents of foreign languages and affairs in Jilin Province, has always committed itself to cultivating high-end talents with innovation and entrepreneurship for President Xi’s “Belt and Road” initiative and for local and regional economic and social development, and stepping up the strategy of opening Jilin to the outside world. It also takes firm steps to press ahead with closer integration of educations concerning innovation and entrepreneurship, specialties and politics. In addition, it boasts a well-refined curriculum system of innovation and entrepreneurship, making room for students’ development in innovation and entrepreneurship with an all-round, sound and favorable environment. The newly-built 8,000-square-meter Innovation & Entrepreneurship Building will be officially put into use during the Provincial Final Competition.

At the launching ceremony, Zhang Rui, Chen Jing, Zhou Luohong, and Jiang Nan gave a thorough and in-depth interpretation of track plans, preparation, excellent case analysis and business plan making for over 600 teachers and students from nearly 100 colleges and universities in Jilin Province.

Former prize winner Hu Duo from Tonghua Normal College gave a speech in which he shared his experiences in the competition. He also inspired the students to seize the opportunity to improve themselves and realize their dreams. And the trailer of the movieEmbracing a Brighter Future, the first Chinese film about innovation and entrepreneurship for college students in the new era, was played, which drew much attention from teachers and students present.

Song Hui, the Director of the Higher Education Division of Jilin Provincial Education Department, finally summed up overall requirements for the Competition in the meeting, including, a highlight on good preparation, wide participation, faster commercialization (of business plans), deeper cultivation (of innovation and entrepreneurship), and brand-new competition (covering 4 concurrent events).

Under the guidelines of “Higher, Wider and More Jilin-characteristics,” the 5th China College Students “Internet Plus” Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition is bound to inject new energy into reforms of innovation and entrepreneurship education in colleges and universities in Jilin Province and play an important role in serving a multi-dimensional renovation and development for Jilin Province.
