On April 23, 2019, the Welcome Ceremony of the students’ visiting team of the Confucius Institute at the New Jersey City University (NJCU) in the United States was conducted in the Global Village (the national experimental teaching demonstration center) of Jilin International Studies University (JISU). 28 American teachers and students held a 7-day language study and cultural survey tour here.

Vice President Wang Jie gave a welcome speech on behalf of President Qin He. He said, considering the long-term relationship between NJCU and JISU, that the Confucius Institute greatly prompted the positive mutual exchange and cooperation between both sides. He also added that the two universities would definitely achieve greater outcomes in terms of Chinese education teaching and personnel training.

Carlos Lejnieks, Chairman of Brothers & Sisters Corporation in America, gave an address and expressed his heartfelt congratulations on the rapid growth of education and teaching at JISU during the past 3 years, as well as its successful renaming. According to Carlos, the Confucius Institute played a significant role in Chinese education in NJCU, and also made contributions in cultivating young people to learn Chinese and build a bridge linking Sino-US friendship.

Qu Yiguo, a teacher in the School of International Exchanges at JISU, welcomed the visit of the American team on behalf of all faculty members.

Mia Howell and Shafaq, the visiting student representatives, both delivered speeches to show their admiration for learning Chinese and experiencing the Chinese culture.

Yulia, a Russian student at JISU, and Chinese Government scholarship winner, addressed the attendees in Chinese and shared stories about living and studying in JISU. She hoped that the American visitors could enjoy their visit here.

Additionally, the JISU College Students Art Troupe gave a wonderful performance of an ensemble of traditional Chinese instruments and Chinese folk dances.

The American students responded with a vocal chorus and won a raft of applause.

JISU has kept a fine partnership with NJCU and made proactive efforts to expand exchanges and cooperation in multiple domains. This visit will boost the two-way cooperation in depth and continue to improve Sino-US cultural communication so as to benefit the development of the Confucius Institute.
