A Delegation Headed by Wu Yan, Director of the MOE’s Higher Education Department, Visited JISU

On April 12th, Wu Yan, Director of the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education, led a delegation with Deputy Director Fan Hailin to JISU for inspection work of its construction and talents cultivation. They were accompanied by Pan Yongxing, Deputy Secretary of the Education Working Committee of Jilin Provincial Committee and Deputy Director of Jilin Provincial Department of Education, and Xu Shibin, Chief Inspector of the Education Steering Committee of Jilin Provincial Government.

Accompanied by President Qin He, the delegation visited the Center Square, the Practice and Training Center, the Simultaneous Interpretation Laboratory, the Psychological Health Education Center, the Global Village—International Language and Culture Practice Teaching Center, the library, as well as the International Exchange Center successively, and gained an understanding of teachers’ work and students’ learning through interaction with them. The delegation spoke highly of the university’s mission, “All is for students to be integrated, talented and successful,” and the idea of providing students with the most responsible education. They also praised JISU for its high-quality education and teaching environment for students from home and abroad with internationalized flavor.

The delegation visited the Chinese Village in the Global Village (International Language and Culture Practice Teaching Center) in which Wu Yan had a cordial talk with overseas students who were attending a Chinese Culture Workshop class and also asked how they felt about studying Chinese and experiencing Chinese culture at JUSU. During the talk, our overseas postgraduate student JHA ROHAN from India, majoring in International Business, gave Director Wu Yan his handmade Chinese paper-cutting “福” as a gift. Wu Yan valued it a lot and also wished Jha Rohan a great success in his study.

The delegation had an in-depth exchange with foreign teachers and heads of all the villages in the Global Village, hoping that they would make contributions to JISU’s growth with firm commitment to the great cause of education and pool wisdom and strength to cultivate high-quality applied talents of languages and foreign affairs for our country and society.

Later during the meeting, the delegation had a discussion with leaders from 12 private undergraduate colleges of Jilin Province.

President Qin He delivered a speech

President Qin He, along with President Lv Yinghua of the College of Humanities & Sciences of Northeast Normal University, President Zhang Dejiang of Changchun Guanghua University, President Qin Lei of Changchun Sci-Tech University, Vice President Wang Chunli of Jilin Animation Institute, shared experiences of school management and achievements with the people present.

Our alumni Cai Xue attended the panel discussion during which she shared her experiences of studying at JISU and starting her own business in her hometown after graduation, and expressed heartfelt gratitude to JISU for its great care.

Director Wu Yan delivered a speech

In the end, Director Wu Yan delivered a speech in which he highly appreciated achievements made by private higher education of Jilin Province and hailed JISU as a high-level foreign language university with distinctive characteristics and a market-orientation. Moreover, he put forward new expectations and requirements for its future development as it was renamed “JISU.” Later, Pan Yongxing and Xu Shibin also delivered remarks. They expressed that the strategy of reinvigorating Jilin Province through higher education would be fully implemented in greater efforts to develop those private colleges with higher quality characteristics and levels.
