A team delegated by Chinese and South Korean Deans from Rainbow Confucius Institute in South Korea Grand Education Group paid a visit to Jilin International Studies University (JISU) and attended a meeting on educational exchanges and cooperation. Wang Jie, Vice President of JISU, and officials from Jilin Provincial Foreign Language Education and Training Center, welcomed the visiting team.

The team visited the Global Village—the World Multicultural Education Center, the library and the International Exchange Center. They highly praised the school mission—“All is for students to be integrated and talented,” and “The student-centered concept to provide students with the most reliable, responsible and quality education.” They also approved our principles of training students’ practical capabilities, cultivating their compound talents, and being very oriented towards internationalization.

After the tour, a meeting on educational cooperation was started. The Chinese and South Korean Deans agreed to welcome students from JISU to apply for a volunteer program of teaching Chinese at Rainbow Confucius Institute. They’re also willing to assign their trainees to study Chinese and experience traditional Chinese culture here.

The Rainbow Confucius Institute was jointly opened by Jilin Provincial Foreign Language Education and Training Center and the South Korea Grand Education Group in 2014. It has been smoothly run under the support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters & National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (NOCFL) and Jilin Provincial Education Department. Up until now, the number of its registered Chinese learners has reached approximately 40,000. It introduces the development of Chinese society and economy to the learners via in-class instruction of the documentary Glorious China, and organizes South Korean students to attend cultural experience activities in China, which works out to notably improve Chinese teaching in South Korea. In 2017, the Institute was reputed as a “First-class Confucius Institute.”

This visit boosted the communication between the Rainbow Confucius Institute and JISU and had an important effect on the promotion of international cooperation and internationalized schooling.
