After the closing of the second session of the 13thNational People’s Congress in the afternoon of March 15th, President Qin He met a group of JISU graduates in Beijing.

Having graduated many years ago, the graduates were thrilled to meet the respectable President Qin He. After hugging and shaking hands with her, they briefly shared their experiences and work achievements with her.

Taking full advantage of their specialties, each one of them is serving society in a different and impactful way. For instance, Jiang Chaoxi, a graduate majoring in Portuguese in 2014, works in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Li Kaijun and Zhang Feng, graduates majoring in Russian in 2013, now work in the Ministry of Commerce; Bao Tengda, a graduate majoring in Spanish in 2016, is a secretary of the ambassador of the Embassy of Costa Rica in China; and Niu Huiting, a Business Administration graduate in 2016, is an assistant of the Commercial Counsellor’s Office in the Hungarian Embassy in China.

Some graduates have started their own businesses through hard work and persistence. For example: He Jinzi, an International Economics and Trade graduate in 2008, owns fund products with a scale exceeding 1 billion yuan; and Lou Fei, an International Economics and Trade graduate in 2012, opened a national high-tech company and was titled as an “Outstanding Talent” of Zhong Guan Village.

Some graduates have played important roles in the fields of education, economy, human resources and foreign trade with remarkable results. For example: Xing Kai, an International Economics and Trade graduate in 2010, received his Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from Newcastle University in 2012 and got a PhD in Finance and Risk at the University of Nottingham in 2016. Now he works in the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science at the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a postdoctoral researcher, and he is also a lecturer of the School of International Education at the Beijing Institute of Technology. Liang Yueming, an International Economics and Trade graduate in 2017, is the business manager of Minimax (Beijing) Fire Protection System Co., Ltd. Liu Qingfeng, a graduate majoring in Spanish in 2009, serves as a business manager in the South Africa region of the China Petroleum Technology & Development Corporation (CPTDC). Zhao Tong, a Chinese International Education graduate in 2016, is now employed at Beisen Research and responsible for sales to major clients. Wang Yan, a graduate of the class of 2007 majoring in French, now works at Beijing Xida Engineering Consulting Co., Ltd. as the office director.

President Qin He was incredibly proud of their growth and achievements. She told them: “students’ bright futures are the greatest source of pride for our university. We will always be here to support you.” She also encouraged them that “happiness is pursued through hard work” as General Secretary Xi Jinping said and hoped that they would stay true to their mission, work hard, and realize their dreams.

President Qin He briefly introduced the latest development of our university. When hearing that our university was approved to run Master and PhD programs and renamed “Jilin International Studies University”, they clapped their hands with great excitement. Moreover, President Qin He invited them to visit JISU and contribute to its development.

President Qin He also prepared postcards of the “Two Sessions” with her signature for them, saying:“I wish every one of you greater success! And do your best to contribute to the country and society.”

This meeting impressed the graduates a lot. Wang Yan said: “the sagacity and brilliance of humanity were perfectly reflected in our President’s manners and speech. Always keeping the development of our country and society in mind, she has been cultivating talents as a builder of the “Chinese Dream”. Zhao Tong said: “this short but impressive meeting with President Qin He makes us feel greatly cared for and loved by our university. I take pride in the President who has worked very hard and devoted herself to education with firm determination.”

The graduates also expressed best wishes to our university. Liang Mingyue said: “I am proud of being part of the Jilin International Studies University. I hope that our university will become better and cultivate more talents for China and the world, serving as a bridge for China and the outside world.” Lou Fei said: “JISU is the first private university in China. I sincerely hope that it will take the lead in initiating private education with Chinese characteristics and make major breakthroughs in teaching, scientific research and building a unique campus culture. And I hope one day it will become a top university in the world. As a graduate of JISU, I will always be influenced by the principles it taught me and the growth I experienced there, and I plan to keep up with the ongoing developments of the university.” Xing Kai said: “It has been 8 years since I graduated from the university. However, I still feel proud of it, especially when I was informed that it was renamed JISU. Although I graduated from it many years ago, I have been keeping close eyes on its progress. I don’t think it has been developing too abruptly, but rather it has been developing in an orderly manner. Every and each goal it sets is realistic and achievable, and this has led to great progress. Thus, we have the confidence that JISU will have a bright future, and it will not only become a well-known university in China but a well-regarded university worldwide. I believe it will eventually achieve its great dream of becoming century-old prestigious university in the future.”
