On March 9^th, Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang, also a Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, joined in the deliberation of the 2019 work report of the NPC Standing Committee with NPC deputies from Jilin Province. President Qin He also attended the meeting.

After listening to remarks by the NPC deputies of Bayanqolu, Jing Junhai and Gu Fengjie, Premier Li Keqiang said that fruitful results were achieved through the work of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress last year, and he fully approved the work report delivered by the Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Li Zhanshu.

Premier Li Keqiang hopes that Jilin will uphold Xi Jinping’s “Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era”, implement the guiding principles of instructions given by the General Secretary Xi Jinping on the work of Jilin Province, and fully carry out the rejuvenation of Northeast China supported by the CPC Central Committee and the State Council. Greater efforts should be made to deepen reform, become more open, and improve the environment for businesses. This would help unleash the full potential of state-owned companies and the private economy and facilitate steady and sound development. It is imperative to promote the transformation and improvement of traditional industries, boost industries of bio-medicine and advanced manufacturing, and foster new drivers of growth. Jilin needs to implement the strategy to revitalize the rural areas, develop modern agriculture, ensure food security, enhance the integrated development of primary, secondary and tertiary industries and broaden channels for farmers to increase their incomes. Priority should be given to issues related to people’s well-being such as employment, care of the elder, education, and medical care to deliver more substantial benefits to the public.
