Yang Zhanfei, a student athlete on the track team of Jilin International Studies University (JISU), has been officially admitted into the Chinese undergraduate delegation for cross-country skiing after a series of tests and selections administered by the Education Department of Jilin Province and Jilin Students Physical Education Association. She will attend the 2019 Winter Universiade for cross-country skiing competition in Russia from March 2 to 12. It is the first time that a JISU student has participated in the world-class sports event on behalf of China.

Yang Zhanfei, a senior student from Class 1502 of Chinese Language and Literature, has been doing hard training with the school track and field team. She attended the annual China Cross-country Skiing Competition for College Students on behalf of JISU and made remarkable achievements.

In November 2018, Yang won the Gold Medal in Women's Individual Competition in the first Undergraduate Roller-skating Tournament in Jilin due to her splendid performance and combatant spirit, which contributes a lot to helping her make her way to the national delegation.

“As a JISU student nearing graduation, it is a great honor for me to compete with international counterparts on behalf of China,” said Yang. “I have learned quite a lot since first being chosen in the Jilin Provincial delegation for cross-country skiing and have benefited both from the land skiing and from the next 50 days of intensified Winter training. I really appreciate the devotion on the part of my school and teachers to offer me instruction and cultivation. I will definitely spare no efforts in this Winter Universiade, and try my best to win honor for my country and my school.”

According to Zuo Jingjiang, Director of the Physical Education Department, Yang Zhanfei’s participation in the world-class sports event fully embodies the success of physical education reform under way in JISU. He argued that the Working Group would maintain continuous efforts to inspire students to participate in sports events and improve their training and exercise so as to help more students compete in national and even international arenas.
