The Deputy Mayor of Changwon, South Korea, Lee Hyun kyoo, led a government delegation of 5 people to visit our school and presented 30 sets of Korean cultural costumes worth 150,000 yuan to our school. Relevant personnel of Changchun Foreign Affairs Office accompanied the visit.President Qin He, on behalf of JISU, extended a warm welcome to the team. In the meeting, President Qin He introduced the development of JISU, the construction of the Korean major and the international exchanges here. She pointed out that in the past 23 years since its establishment, the university has been committed to running a non-profit university with a hundred years of history, with distinctive characteristics to meet market demands, with an international orientation to the world, and high-level private foreign language studies.
The University proactively promotes an internationalized education. It has initiated cooperation with 130 plus universities and educational institutes located in 25 regions and countries. It yearly sends roughly 600 students abroad to do long or short-term cultural exchanges, and start overseas studies for dual Bachelor degrees and a combination of Bachelor and Master Degrees. Particularly, the number of international cooperation schools for Korean majors has reached 30, with more than 80% of students sent abroad each year. JISU annually enrolls about 300 international students via offering the "Chinese Government Scholarship," "The Silk Road Scholarship", "Jilin Provincial Government Scholarship" and the "Confucius Institute Scholarship".
JISU has presented itself as a demonstrative base of the structural reform of national non-governmental higher education and as a teaching institution which focuses on nurturing application-oriented talents in foreign languages and foreign affairs in Jilin Province. It is designated as a unique World Multicultural Education Center by UNESCO, endowed with the largest number of foreign languages in Northeast China. It is committed to cultivating translators and interpreters majoring in “Multiple languages +” in pursuit of innovating education modes of postgraduates.

Vice Mayor Lee Hyun kyoo spoke highly of our school's philosophy of "all for the success of students" and "student-centered, most responsible education." He said, “in particular, the library, which integrates modernization, information, ecology and internationalization, as well as the scene of students reading carefully, really shocked and moved me. Looking forward to the new Global Village here, we will actively promote the Changwon municipal government and four local universities to carry out further exchanges and cooperation with Jilin Foreign Studies University.
