Recently, our university received a letter of thanks from the Chinese Embassy in Panama, thanking Xu Xiangyu, an alumni of our university for her outstanding contribution during President Xi Jinping's visit to Panama.

On December 2nd-3rd 2018, President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to Panama. This is the first visit by our Chinese President to Panama, which is of great significance and success. Xu Xiangyu, an alumni of our university, responded positively to the call of the embassy and assisted in the preparation and reception of this visit.

During the visit, Xu Xiangyu was mainly responsible for the itinerary, vehicle coordination and arrangements for the accompanying journalists from about 20 media oulets including CCTV, People's Daily, Xin Hua News Agency and Phoenix Satellite TV. She was responsible, careful and meticulous and completed the task excellently. She showed her excellent manner and ability and made important contributions to the success of the visit.

As soon as she knew that the university which she graduated from was officially renamed as "Jilin International Studies University," Xu Xiangyu immediately sent the letter of thanks written by Chinese Embassy in Panama to our school and let us know the good news.

Xu Xiangyu majored in Spanish and graduated in 2017. During her studies at school, she worked very hard to learn professional knowledge and passed the CET-4 and CET-6 as well as TSM-4 and TSM-8 on the first try. With a passion for Spanish, she worked as a football translator, film translator and Spanish online course teacher during her internship. Currently, she works in the Panama Ammar Project Department of China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC). As the chief translator, she is responsible for documents and email translation, pictures and videos collection and news and information submission, etc. In her spare time, she also took part in public welfare activities held by the local schools.

As an overseas alumna, Xu Xiangyu highly appreciates the cultivation of her Alma Mater. On the occasion of our university’s upgrading of its name, she sincerely expressed her wishes that our university could make more ambitious exhibitions, and draw a spectrum chapter once again!
