On November 14th, the exchange meeting for the International Chinese Volunteer Teacher Project and Professional Talent Training in Jilin Province was held atour university.

The meeting was presided over by Yang Hong, secretary of the party branch of Jilin Teaching and Training Center for Chinese as a Foreign Language. Li Bo, President of the Confucius Institute of Western Kentucky University, and his delegation attended the meeting. Representatives from Jilin Agricultural University, Jilin University of Finance and Economics and the College of Humanities of and Sciences Northeast Normal University attended the meeting. Wang Jie (Assistant President of our university and Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Department), Xiao Xi (Director of the Language and Culture Practice Center), and other officials also attended the meeting.

President Li Bo introduced the program of dual degrees for the Master of Education in Western Kentucky University in the United States. This program is suitable for our postgraduates majoring in Chinese Education and English-related subjects to apply for studying at Western Kentucky University. After graduation, the students will obtain degrees from two universities and a Teaching Credential recognized by six states in the United States, and work as a teacher sponsored by the National Chinese Office in the United States.

President Li Bo and his delegation further exchanged relevant experience in the construction of the Confucius Institute with our counterparties. They then visited our Practical Teaching Center of International Language and Culture, the Global Village, giving high praise for the practical teaching in our university.They also showed willingness to enhance the cooperation between our university and Western Kentucky University Confucius Institute in cultivating Chinese major students in the United States.

Through this meeting, our university leaders learned about the International Chinese Volunteer Teacher Program and professional training experience, discussed the direction of cooperation with Western Kentucky University in the United States, and promoted international education and foreign cooperation.
