On October 29, the 4th National Foreign Language Teaching Micro-Lecture Contest concluded successfully. Zhao Xiangyu, an English teacher of the School of English, won the excellent award in the final group of English teaching contestants, all of whom teach undergraduate students.
The National Foreign Language Teaching Micro-Lecturing Contest is a national public service competition sponsored by the China Higher Education Society and the Higher Education Publishing Office. It has been held four times since 2014, which has drawn wide attention from society and active participation from foreign language teachers. Combined with the construction of micro-course teaching resources and related teaching and research training, the competition explores new ideas and new modes of foreign language classroom teaching and has been widely praised by foreign language experts. Teachers from more than 500 colleges and universities in 30 provinces across the country have participated in the contest with a total of 1,582 recommended teaching videos, as well as 2,482,576 online views and 837,844 online votes.
The teachers in Huawai guide students to learn actively through real or imitation projects and tasks, and the teaching process is focused on important and difficult learning objectives. The micro-lecturing video, which is only a few minutes of teaching content, displays a well put-together and effective teaching method as well as a "student-centered" atmosphere. As a result, it received praise from many evaluation experts.
The winner, Zhao Xiangyu said, "As young teachers facing the arrival of the information-based teaching era, we must improve our teaching methods, adapt to students' learning psychology and meet students' learning needs. In the process of teaching reform, micro-lecturing is a top priority. Therefore, I have spent a lot of time and energy in making micro lessons to promote online teaching. This competition allowed me to improve my skill in making micro lesson videos, broaden my horizons, and helped define the direction of my future efforts.
