International Students Experience “Artistic Air of Guandong”

Recently, a social practice activity was held at JISUs School of International Exchange titled Perceiving China -- Changchun Tour. This event, themed The Artistic Air of Guandong, saw the participation of over 50 international students from countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Laos, Slovakia, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand. They visited the Jilin Provincial Museum and the Jilin Provincial Folk Art & Crafts Museum to experience the technological and artistic charm of Northeast China.

Liu Yutong, a student from the Class of 2020 in the TCSOL program at the School of International Communication, provided a detailed introduction to the Jilin Provincial Museum and the Jilin Provincial Folk Art & Crafts Museum, preparing everyone for the on-site visit.


At the Jilin Provincial Museum, international students visited exhibitions such as the Optical Science and Technology Hall, the Science and Technology Hall, the Plum Blossom-themed Cultural Exhibition, and the Zhang Boju Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition. Through hands-on activities and close observation, they experienced the beauty of technology and gained insights into Chinas plum blossom culture through the displayed artifacts. Indonesian student Suhaina said, This place is very interesting. I learned a lot about scientific knowledge and classical culture here and had funs.

The international students also visited the Jilin Provincial Folk Art & Crafts Museum where they admired distinctive artworks from Northeast China, such as egg carving, wood carving, paper cutting, root carving, dough sculpting, and Songhua inkstone art, appreciating the beauty of Guandong art. Russian student Yuri said, These wood and root carvings are very beautiful and unique.

This event left a deep impression on the international students. They noted that it was an unforgettable journey of science and culture.
