On June 11,2024, a delegation of five members from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, visited Jilin International Studies University(JISU). The delegation was led by Vice President Mr. Przemysław Nehring, accompanied by Dean of the Faculty of Humanities Ms. Violetta Wróblewska, Vice Dean Mr. Andrzej Moroz, Head of the Department of Polish as a Foreign Language Ms. Małgorzata Berend, and Head of the Department of Chinese Studies Mr. Maciej Szatkowski.
JISU’s Vice President Wang Zhiguo, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation Song Dandan, Dean of the School of Central and Eastern European Languages Zhou Shujuan, and representatives from relevant departments met with the delegation and held discussions on cooperation.
The delegation first took a tour of JISU’s library, the Global Village, and the International Exchange Center. They highly praised the school’s efforts to create a high-quality international educational environment and its commitment to the philosophy of “student-centeredness, providing the most responsible education,” which is reflected throughout the campus.
At the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on future cooperation in the fields of educational collaboration and cultural exchange, reaching preliminary agreements on launching “2+2” dual-degree programs, student exchange programs, and faculty exchange programs. Both parties unanimously agreed that this visit has strengthened the friendship between the two universities and laid a solid foundation for deeper cooperation in education, research, and culture. They look forward to further enhancing exchanges and collaboration in the future, jointly advancing the development of both institutions.
Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, established in 1945, is the largest comprehensive university in northern Poland and ranks among the top ten universities in the country. It has been accredited by the Chinese Ministry of Education. The university comprises 17 faculties offering over 70 programs, with nearly 35,000 students enrolled. It stands out among Polish universities and colleges for its research potential, educational formats, the number of majors and courses offered, and the number of enrolled students and graduates.
The Polish Language Program at JISU was established in 2019 and has since established cooperative relationships with Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the University of Gdańsk, and Warsaw University of Humanities and Economics. In 2022, the Polish Language Program launched a “2+2” cooperation project with Nicolaus Copernicus University, sending over 30 students to study in Poland. Among them, eight students were awarded the Rector’s Scholarship from Nicolaus Copernicus University for their outstanding academic performance, and three students received scholarships from the Polish National Commission for Higher Education.
