Recently, a social practice activity titled the “The Cradle of Chinese Cinema,” was held by the School of International Exchange, JISU. This is one of “Perceiving China -- Changchun Tour” series. Centered around the theme “The Cradle of Chinese Cinema,” the event brought together over 50 international students from countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Laos, Slovakia, Vietnam, and Indonesia. They visited the Changchun Film Studio Museum, immersing themselves in the rich culture of Chinese cinema.
The event consisted of two parts: a knowledge-sharing session and an on-site visit. Wang Zihan, a 2020 undergraduate student majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(TCSOL) at the School of International Communication, delivered a presentation on the history of Changchun Film Studio and reviewed classic films. This sparked the international students’ interest and enthusiasm for the subsequent on-site visit.
In the Film Studio Museum, the international students explored numerous outstanding film productions, experienced the culture of film dubbing firsthand, observed the processes of film shooting and production, and gained insights into the evolution of Chinese cinema.
The event elicited enthusiastic responses from the international students. Chen Han from Laos remarked that he gained an understanding of China’s development journey and the wonderful lives of its people. “It was an excellent experience,” He said. Zhang Xuan from Russia said, “Learning about the stories behind filmmaking was both fascinating and meaningful! This activity deepened my understanding of Chinese cinema and culture, and I’ve grown even fonder of the beautiful city of Changchun with its unique cultural charm.”
