The School of International Media, formerly known as the School of Liberal Arts, which was established in 2005, got its present name in August 2020. It currently offers four undergraduate programs: Chinese Language and Literature, Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (TCSOL), Editing and Publishing, and Network and New Media. The school also has three professional master degree authorization points: TCSOL, Subject Teaching (Chinese), and Publishing. The school is supported by 55 full-time and part-time faculty members, including 2 Jilin Provincial Experts with Outstanding Contributions, 2 provincial-level talents, 4 full-time professors, and 15 full-time associate professors. Nineteen faculty members hold or are pursuing doctoral degrees. The TCSOL and Chinese Language and Literature programs have been rated as provincial-level first-class undergraduate program construction projects, and the “International Media Professional Cluster” has been recognized as a provincial-level demonstration cluster for applied transformation. Additionally, the school has one provincial-level class for cultivating top students in fundamental disciplines, one provincial-level first-class course, two provincial-level curriculum ideology and politics demonstration courses, one provincial-level high-quality course, and one provincial-level excellent course. It has established over 40 off-campus practice bases and maintains long-term, stable collaborations with numerous educational institutions and cultural media enterprises across the province. The school provides abundant international educational resources for both undergraduate and graduate students, engaging in educational cooperation and exchanges with more than 10 countries, including Russia, Myanmar, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, and Ghana.

The school consistently adheres to the educational philosophy of “student-centeredness, providing the most responsible education” and the motto of “integrity and pragmatism, erudition and integration.” It maintains an applied talent cultivation orientation and leverages JISU’s rich foreign language teaching resources to develop a distinctive talent cultivation model characterized by “major + foreign language” and “major + industry.” Its graduates primarily find employment in various schools, cultural media enterprises, and other institutions, receiving widespread acclaim.
