The School of Artificial Intelligence was established in 2020, comprising four departments: Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Big Data Technology, Digital Media Technology, and Computer Teaching. In 2021, the school collaborated with iFLYTEK for industry-academia-research cooperation and joint talent cultivation, co-establishing the Artificial Intelligence program. In 2022, it was rated as a provincial-level demonstration modern industry academy for artificial intelligence.
The school boasts a strong faculty team, including 1 chief expert for the Ministry of Education’s “Primary and Secondary School Teachers’ Information Technology Capacity Enhancement” project, 1 Jilin Provincial Expert with Outstanding Contributions, 1 Jilin Provincial Top-notch Innovative Talent, 1 Jilin Provincial Master Teacher, 2 Jilin Provincial Leading Talent, 3 Jilin Provincial Category E Senior Talents and 1 Changchun Municipal Expert with Outstanding Contributions. Among the faculty, 82.35% hold senior professional titles, 52.94% hold doctoral degrees, 58.82% are dual-qualified teachers, and 32% are full-time corporate instructors. Many faculty members hold academic positions as council members or above in national and provincial academic societies. Several teachers have been sent for academic exchange visits to domestic and international universities.
The faculty members have made substantial research achievements. They won over 40 provincial and national research awards, including 1 National Excellent Textbook Award for Computer Basic Education in Higher Education Institutions, 1 Third Prize for Outstanding Teaching Achievements in Jilin Province, multiple Second and Third Prizes in the National Multimedia Courseware Competition, 1 First Prize for Excellent Textbooks in Jilin Province, and multiple First and Second Prizes for Educational Technology Achievements in Jilin Province. They have led more than 60 national and provincial-level teaching and research projects, published over 10 academic books and textbooks, and authored more than 260 academic papers at the provincial level and above.
The school has established 1 provincial-level demonstration modern industry academy, 1 provincial-level experimental teaching demonstration center for public courses, 1 industry-school joint technology innovation laboratory, 6 professional laboratories, 1 innovation studio, and 1 innovation quality development base. It has developed 1 provincial-level blended Learning First-class course, 1 provincial-level virtual simulation First-class course, 1 provincial-level Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program 2.0 professional construction project, and over 10 university-level exemplary courses. The school also boasts 1 provincial-level outstanding teaching team, 1 provincial-level master teacher studio, and 1 university-level Huang Danian-style teaching team.
Guided by the interdisciplinary and integrated concept of the New Liberal Arts, the school focuses on “Artificial Intelligence + Language,” featuring “Language Intelligence” of a foreign studies university. It adheres to the goal of cultivating applied talent with solid foundations, broad perspectives, strong expertise, and high quality, highlighting the advantages and characteristics of “major + language” and “major + application,” and emphasizes the enhancement of students’ practical and innovative abilities. The students of the school have won over 100 national and provincial awards in innovation and quality development activities such as the China International “Internet Plus” College Student Innovation Competition, the National College Student Mathematical Modeling Competition, the China College Student Computer Design Competition, the National College Student Advertising Art Competition, and the National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program.
