Recently, Jilin International Studies University, in collaboration with the Macao Society for Development of Finance, Technology and Education, organized a special lecture titled “Career Development of Translators in the Commercial Translation Market.” The lecture featured Gao Ming, Managing Director of Macao Doctor Translation Co., Ltd., as the keynote speaker. Attendees included Wang Zhiguo, Vice President of Jilin International Studies University; Yang Cheng, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Macau Jixing Engineering; Song Wei, President of the Macao Society for Development of Finance, Technology and Education; and other relevant officials, who jointly discussed trends in the translation industry and talent cultivation strategies.

The lecture highlighted that with the integration of artificial intelligence and language technologies, modern translators must possess a composite skill set encompassing “language proficiency, technical literacy, and cross-cultural communication abilities.” It also emphasized the critical role of technological innovation in enhancing translation efficiency and quality, referencing the world’s first Chinese-Portuguese bilingual search engine, “China-Portugal Information Hub”. Following the lecture, the two parties held an online symposium, reaching preliminary agreements on strengthening internship base construction, undertaking horizontal research projects, and establishing talent training programs.

This lecture not only provided a platform for students and faculty to engage with industry experts but also deepened the collaboration between educational institutions in Jilin and Macao, injecting new momentum into the cultivation of translation professionals equipped to meet contemporary demands.
