Jilin International Studies University (JISU) has been deeply practicing the opening up of education to the outside world and taking internationalization as the core driving force for the construction of a high-level foreign language university with special characteristics. Based on the “Belt and Road” Initiative, JISU serves the needs of the open development of Jilin Province. Through talent cultivation, scientific research and humanistic exchanges, the university has created a new mode of school running.
Currently, the university has established undergraduate dual-degree programs, integrated bachelor’s-and-master’s programs, and master’s dual-degree programs with over 200 universities and educational institutions across more than 40 countries and regions. It has been approved for 5 Sino-foreign cooperative education programs authorized by the Ministry of Education, including a Finance program in collaboration with New Jersey City University (USA), a German Studies program (Translation) in partnership with the University of Applied Languages of Munich (Germany), a Spanish Studies program (Business Management) in cooperation with the Universidad politécnica de Cartagena (Spain), a Russian Studies program in collaboration with Tomsk State Pedagogical University (Russia), and a Korean Studies program in partnership with Busan University of Foreign Studies (South Korea). The university holds qualifications to recruit international students under scholarships such as the “Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Scholarship,” “Chinese Government Scholarship-China-Africa Friendship Program,” “Jilin Provincial Government Foreign Student Scholarship,” and “International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship.” It is also a member of ten international university alliances, including the “Global Alliance of Foreign Studies Universities,” “China-Belarus University Alliance,” “China-Arab Universities Alliance,” “Silk Road Universities Alliance,” “Northeast China-Russia Far East and Siberia University Alliance,” “China-Africa University Alliance,” “China-CEE Higher Education Institutions Consortium,” “China-Russia University Alliance for Language and Culture,” and the “China-ASEAN Thousand Schools Hand-in-Hand Program.” Each year, the university admits approximately 300 international students. Additionally, over 800 students participate in study-abroad programs, including undergraduate dual-degree and integrated bachelor’s-and-master’s programs, as well as short- and long-term language and cultural exchange initiatives, with some majors achieving a 100% overseas participation rate. The university currently employs over 80 foreign faculty members from more than 20 countries, including the United States, Canada, Germany, France, and Italy.
